From the beginning, Doxa was planted with the vision of becoming not a mega church, but a mother church. Instead of building a larger and more comfortable community of believers here in this city, we have always had a vision to send some of our best pastors, leaders, and community members out from here to other University cities with the hopes of more churches being planted.

Over the past five years, we have seen lives changed and many people choose to follow Jesus. We have seen God’s faithfulness to answer bold prayers and provide for us at every step of our journey. All of this has happened because of the grace of God, and the willingness of people to say yes to God’s invitation to go. Now, we are asking that God would do it again.

In the fall of 2022, Doxa sent out its first church plant to Ann Arbor, Michigan. In 2025, Doxa will send out its second national church plant to Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

We are praying to God for answered prayers that He would raise up a team of laborers who are willing to sell their houses, leave their communities, and move their lives to this new city in hopes that God would build a multiethnic Church focused on reaching the community prioritizing the next generation— a church that, by his grace, would become a beacon of hope awakening people to the power of the gospel and the reconciling work of Jesus Christ for that community, its universities, and beyond.

 Why Milwaukee?

A DENSE AND DIVERSE CITY.

In a city of over 1.5 million people (metro), no major ethnic demographic, and more than 100,000 college students, we feel that God is calling us to reach the students and city of Milwaukee with the hope of the Gospel. Milwaukee is a city that celebrates festivals, academics, and sports. With so many things vying for the city’s attention, we believe that these individuals and families deserve to experience a transformed people who celebrate the only thing worth celebrating, the love of Jesus, and are compelled to proclaim and demonstrate his Gospel as it has been proclaimed and demonstrated to us.

Milwaukee is home to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Marquette University, and a handful of other institutions. UW-Milwaukee is the second largest public institution in the University of Wisconsin system. With over 27,000 students from 87 different countries, the nations are coming to Milwaukee. With over 35% of those students being first generation, there are many who are looking for a new and fresh start. We are compelled to meet and send these students out not only to be equipped to make a vocational difference, but a faithful difference. Our prayer is that they come to know Jesus and go on to be Gospel ambassadors.

A DIVIDED CITY.

Milwaukee is considered the most segregated city in America. With no major demographic, the ethnic makeup of Milwaukee sits at 40% black, 40% white, and 20% other. These numbers tell the tale of diversity but lack the element of unity. The loudest cry in Milwaukee is relief from the pain of what division and disunity has caused in this dense and diverse city.

Not only is Milwaukee divided ethnically, it is also divided religiously. Milwaukee is a historically spiritual city with deep roots in Catholicism. With about 40% of the people in Milwaukee identifying as Religious, but less than 5% considering themselves evangelical Christian, Milwaukee is in need of gospel movement.
